The ship offers a suite-guest-only lounge (plus an additional lounge for members of the Royal Caribbean Crown & Anchor Society). Royal Caribbean’s Voyager Class cruise ships can be a nice choice for first-time or seasoned cruisers. They come with plenty to do, see, eat, and drink onboard, and offer a diverse range of itineraries around the world. The Voyager class refers to a design of post-Panamax cruise ships owned and operated by Royal Caribbean International. The Voyager-class ships were built at Kværner Masa-Yards Turku New Shipyard, Finland.

Adventure of the Seas
The total deck area is 137,000m² (1,522,000ft²), with 15,400m² of outside deck areas for passengers. Adventure of the Seas is the third of five Voyager-Class cruise ships that have been built for the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line. It was constructed by Kvaerner Masa-Yards at the Turku New Shipyard in Finland. The other vessels were the Voyager of the Seas, which was delivered in October 1999, and the Explorer of the Seas, which was delivered in September 2000. Along those lines, Royal Caribbean often sends some of its Vision Class ships to Europe in the summer to operate port call-intensive itineraries. The vessels also often sail longer trips in the Caribbean that include less-visited southerly islands.

These additions were announced prior to the coronavirus pandemic, so they may change. During the recent amplification of Voyager of the Seas, the Vitality Spa & Fitness Center as well as Adventure Ocean areas were refurbished and modernized. There is a new outdoor hangout area for teenagers onboard as well. On Mariner of the Seas and Navigator of the Seas you will find the Puzzle Break Center. Here, guests can complete a timed puzzle challenge to try and break out of the escape room in time.

She can accommodate over 3,000 guests, including scientists making use of a built-in atmospheric and oceanographic laboratory operated by the University of Miami's Rosenstiel School of Marine, Atmospheric, and Earth Science. The lab, with its attendant educational and outreach programs for passengers, was discontinued in 2007. As one of the best cruise ships sailing, the Voyager of the Seas offers an abundance of free onboard cruise activities & vacation experiences. These ships were revolutionary for the cruise line with the first ice skating rink at sea and the first Royal Promenade, which features shops and restaurants in the center of the ship.

Design, layout, dimensions and facilities of Adventure of the Seas

Voyager was instantly the largest cruise ship in the world when she debuted (only until Explorer of the Seas entered service the following year). With an abundance of onboard cruise restaurants and fine dining experiences discover the top cruise foods aboard Voyager of the Seas. The balcony cabins are similar in size and layout to the ocean-view staterooms, but include a furnished balcony that is accessible via a set of glass doors that take up nearly the entire far wall of the cabin. Another major advantage that Mariner of the Seas has over Adventure of the Seas is the Italian restaurant available. Onboard Mariner, my sister and I were able to dine at Jamie’s Italian. This restaurant serves fresh, handmade, and rustic Italian fare thanks to a partnership with Chef Jamie Oliver, one of Britain’s most famous food exports.
The second generation of Voyager-class ships, though, made some slight changes to the public spaces and aesthetics. If you can't live without those sorts of features on a cruise ship, the Radiance class probably isn't for you. At the time of launch, Voyager of the Seas was the largest cruise ship in the world.
All have multiple pools and whirlpools, an ice skating rink, rock climbing wall and mini-golf. All also feature a Royal Promenade where cruisers can enjoy people-watching, have a drink in a pub, stop at the Cafe Promenade for a quick snack or go shopping. The Voyager class of Royal Caribbean ships re-defined what cruise ships can offer to guests in the onboard experience. From specialty restaurants to entertainment to sheer size, the Voyager class ships quickly became a Royal Caribbean staple.
This is a fantastic spot to watch sailaway or relax while onboard. Voyager Class ships come at a lower cost compared to Oasis or Quantum Class ships, as well, so they can be a more budget-friendly option for travelers while still providing a modern cruise experience. Mariner of the Seas has a few activities not found on any other Voyager Class ship. First is the Sky Pad, a virtual reality bungee jumping experience. Here, guests can put a VR headset on and jump up and down on the Sky Pad’s trampolines while playing games in a series of virtual reality simulations. She is the only Voyager Class ship to offer not only Izumi sushi, but hibachi.
Carnival Ship Rescues 27 People Adrift at Sea in the Caribbean
In their interiors, Freedom Class vessels have the mall-like Royal Promenade spaces filled with eateries, bars and shops that have become standard on bigger Royal Caribbean ships. The good news for those of you worried about excessive crowds is that, as is the case with the Icon Class ships, the Oasis Class ships don't necessarily feel as crowded as they are. Royal Caribbean designed them with a "neighborhood" concept that spreads passengers out in seven or eight (depending on the ship) distinct areas, such as the Pool and Sports Zone and the Boardwalk amusement zone. A lot of thought went into how passengers move between these neighborhoods, too.
She is also the only Voyager Class ship to have hot tubs on the running deck which overlook the pool area. In addition, the top deck of The Lime & Coconut was transformed into a lounge area with comfy seating, tables, and lights. Like Explorer of the Seas, the full amplification of Adventure of the Seas has been delayed.
I’ve been able to dine at Jamie’s Italian on multiple cruises, and I believe it’s my favorite specialty restaurant at sea. On my recent cruise on Adventure, the total number of guests onboard was around 3,950 (according to the crew members I asked). This means that there were many cabins that had more than two people in them. Jenna DeLaurentis enjoys exploring new ports of call around the world on a cruise ship, learning about new cultures, discovering beautiful landscapes, and trying diverse cuisine. She loves to get active while at port, whether cycling through mountains in the Caribbean or scuba diving under the sea. And while Voyager Class ships offer fun-filled activities onboard, they also offer plenty of areas for rest and relaxation.
Voyager Class ships were also the first to feature a Royal Promenade with bars, cafes and shops in their interior. Each also has several specialty restaurants in addition to the main dining room and casual buffet; specialty restaurants include a version of Royal Caribbean's signature Chops Grille steakhouse and an Italian restaurant. You'll also find three pools on each ship, whirlpools, a rock climbing wall, a miniature golf course, a sports court and an adults-only solarium. Each ship has a theater, a spa, a casino, and multiple bars and lounges. As you might expect, the biggest Royal Caribbean ships have the most amenities.
It was followed by Explorer of the Seas in 2000, which was then followed by Adventure of the Seas in 2001. A second generation of Voyager-class ships followed in 2002 and 2003, with Navigator of the Seas and Mariner of the Seas. At the time of these ships being built in the early 2000s, they were among the biggest in the world. Nowadays, Royal Caribbean’s Oasis Class ships are nearly double in size with many more people onboard. These mega-ships also cannot reach smaller ports, which limits their itineraries.
Honorable mention for the Voyager class goes to Navigator of the Seas. It seemingly had the best refurbishment with a slew of restaurants, virtual balconies and more. Both classes are large ships and with the recent refurbishments to the Voyager class, the differences are not as wide as they once were. Besides the size of the ships, there are some key differences that will either be a plus or minus for you.
